About the position:
As a Category Manager Procurement at DORC, you will join a dynamic team of procurement professionals. Your initial focus will be the integration of the procurement functions of DORC International and Zeiss Meditec. In 2024, DORC was acquired by ZEISS Meditec, and the two companies are now undergoing integration—a process that brings exciting new opportunities within procurement as we align systems, processes, and supplier networks to drive greater impact together.

Your role includes aligning procurement processes, harmonizing (IT) tools, and transitioning supplier contracts. You will play a key role in identifying purchasing opportunities and driving supplier synergies. With your strong foundation in procurement and solid project management skills, you will contribute to the professionalization of the procurement function. You are motivated to drive innovation and champion continuous improvement—both in in the integration, in supplier collaboration and within the supply chain itself.

Your responsibilities :

  • Initial focus of the role will be fully on support the integration of DORC and Zeiss Meditec procurement organization through aligning procurement processes, harmonization of (IT) tools, transitioning supplier contracts.
  • After transitioning into the Category Manager role, your responsibilities are:
  • Gather and analyze information on opportunities and threats on global markets, (potential) supplier capabilities & performance, financial- and supply risks and customer demands. Translate into concrete actions for procurement strategies, performance indicators, vendor management and supplier relationship management;
  • Actively engage with and be a business partner for key stakeholders to understand business requirements and incorporate them into category strategies,  supplier selection, supplier evaluation and decision making processes;
  • Responsible for closing global supplier contracts and liaise with stakeholders;
  • Develop and maintain market- and procurement knowledge through regularly visiting suppliers and trade shows. Actively keeping up with global developments and market developments in the assigned categories. Maintaining a network in- and outside the organization and pro-actively sharing knowledge with the business and within the Procurement team;
  • Advise on improvement of quality and efficiency of procurement and supply chain processes;
  • Provide procurement expertise within (developments) projects;
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in product and process innovation with suppliers and the supply chain;
  • Support stakeholders on operational excellence in material and service availability, quality (incident) management, end-of-life management, warranty and guarantee management;  
  • Perform vendor management and supplier relationship management to maintain and improve supplier performance. Together with stakeholders make recommendations on supplier acceptability.

 About you:

  • You have a bachelor or master degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant procurement experience and preferably experience in - or affinity with – project management and or post-merger integration. 
  • You are fluent in English and preferably also speak German and/or Dutch.
  • You have strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills. You are analytical, goal oriented, accurate and a great problem solver. 
  • You are willing to travel: on average you will be traveling to and working at one of our Zeiss offices in Jena or Oberkochen once a month.
  • You are currently residing in the EU and it is possible to work from our Dutch office in Zuidland for 50% of the time.
